The Slimfast range of foods consist of calorie-controlled meal replacements and snacks, available from supermarkets and pharmacists. Products available include instant soups, snack bars, dried pasta-based meals, shakes and frozen calorie-counted ready meals.
Slimfast recommend replacing two meals a day with a Slimfast replacement and eating a calorie-controlled main meal. Slimfast also recommends taking exercise as well as restricting your diet. The Slimfast website offers additional support, in the form of e-mailed newsletters, recipe ideas, on-line food diary and weight chart etc.
The Slimfast diet is, therefore, basically a calorie-controlled diet using specialised foods.
Some research studies have supported the relatively longer-term effectiveness of the Slimfast diet.
Don't forget: if you decide to follow a particular diet and lose weight, then go back to the old habits that made you overweight in the first place, you will become overweight again.

Weight Concern does not receive any funding from manufacturers or retailers of any commercial weight loss programme.
